On Wednesday 6th April 2016, our wonderful trustee Sally has bravely agreed to do a sponsored abseil to raise money for The Greyhound Sanctuary.
Sally’s mum, who was 90 at the time, had wanted to do the abseil herself to raise money for the charity in which her daughter has dedicated so much of her time, but luckily Sally managed to convince her that perhaps it might be better if she did it on her behalf!
Sadly, Sally’s mum passed away in the summer of 2015 and so this abseil has become even more important to Sally and she is determined to complete the challenge, despite being terrified of heights.
Please help Sally raise as much money as she possibly can by sponsoring her on our dedicated Virgin Money Giving event page:
Visit the Devon County Show from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st May 2016 and come and see us on our stand.
It’s a great day out for all the family and we’ll be there with lots of unique gifts you can buy to help us raise funds for The Greyhound Sanctuary.

The Great Canine Caper 2016 will take place on Sunday 11th September from 10am-5pm at Escot Country Park near Ottery St. Mary in Devon – more details coming soon!
The Great Canine Caper at Escot 2015 was a great success. After expenses we raised a wonderful £2,500 for The Greyhound Sanctuary – thank you so much to all those who attended – you made it a fantastic event and the weather was glorious! The dog show brought in the most money with some huge classes which made it very difficult for the judge to choose just 6 dogs to win the rosettes as they were all so lovely.
Here are some lovely photos taken by Sam Baker for us during the dog show:
The Lucky Winners from each Class were as follows:
Best Veteran – Annie
Best Biscuit catcher – Albert
Best rescue – Rosie
Prettiest bitch – Lexi
Best fancy dress – Bride & Groom (Chihuahuas)
Longest legs – Charlie (Borzoi)
Black beauty – Star
Best trick – beagle Bonnie
Dog judge most like to take home – Albert (French Bulldog)
Best in Show was Maisie (lovely black & white rescue greyhound)
