The London Kayakathon will be held on the same day as the London marathon (22nd April 2012)  and is a 26.2 mile paddle in sea kayaks on the River Thames starting at Tower Bridge and going up to Chiswick Bridge and back again. There are 100 paddlers taking part and we will be paddling together as a group - we aim to do the paddle in approx. 5 hours.

Rua and Fionn

Just arrived
. Fionn who is a 4 years old male lurcher and Rua who is a 2 year old female lurcher. They have been in a home together for over a year and the owner now hasn’t time for them. They are beautiful looking dogs who love people but do not like cats!

Also - Dottie who was rescued the day before she would have been put to sleep. She is three years old and is very loving and is good with other dogs as she has spent some time in a foster home with other dogs.

See the re-homing page for more details.

We have had a wonderful total of £865 from an Isle of Man 24 hour Parish Walk - a distance of 85 miles in total and Jayne and Dale Farquhar did this walk for The Greyhound Sanctuary.  They have two of our greyhounds,  a boxer and another greyhound.  We are so very grateful to them.

The BBQ held during the IOM TT races raised a total amount of £1,356 which was split between The Greyhound Sanctuary and the Homesafe Division of the RGT based on the Isle of Man.  Each charity benefited by £653 once the cost of the insurance had been paid.  Very many thanks to Team Greyhound for all their hard work and Sally and Ian Mcmullen for the use of their house and garden.

Van
The Greyhound Sanctuary van has now been fitted with cages which will enable us to transport the greyhounds more safely. This was done by a supporter, Adrian Grant, and cost a great deal less than the quote received originally. We are very grateful for this contribution.

Thank you to Adrian and his family as they also collected the van, fitted the cages and returned it to North Devon the following weekend.
